Jan van der Stoep is Endowed Professor of Christian Philosophy at Wageningen University & Research. He is especially interested in the ethics of food and agriculture. His research focuses on the meaning of stewardship in relation to local food chains. Each year he teaches a course on Food Ethics and a course on Worldviews. He is also affiliated to Ede Christian University of Applied Sciences where he directs a research group on Faith and Work. He has been an advisor of many Christian organizations.
Jan lives in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. Together with his wife Petra he has three children. He studied biology at Wageningen University & Research and philosophy at the VU University Amsterdam, where he also wrote a PhD thesis on Pierre Bourdieu and the Political Philosophy of Multiculturalism. He loves walking and cycling and enjoys landscapes, plants and insects. From 2011 to 2017 he was the chair of A Rocha Netherlands.

They advocate for policy changes and raise awareness about the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities. Climate Stewards believes that responding to the climate crisis is a moral obligation that expresses Christian faith and care for the planet and its inhabitants.
